This policy aims to empower our members to actively discern their involvement in political and other issues. Respecting the discernment of our members, CLCP as a national body will only take positions in extraordinary circumstances—when there is a strong, urgent, and compelling reason to do so. The policy aims that in case there is communal action, that it is rooted in Ignatian spirituality and our General Principles (particularly GP 8), guided by the principles of subsidiarity and synodality, and reflective of a communal discernment process that honors the diverse perspectives within our community.
We encourage that the same principles apply to regional and local communities, ensuring that decisions are made at the most appropriate level while respecting individual conscience and responsibility.
We are seeking additional feedback and comments from the community as we will review this policy during our next LC meeting in May 2025.
We thank you for your continued prayers, reflections, and engagement in our mission as an Ignatian apostolic body. May the Holy Spirit guide us in our shared commitment to justice, discernment, and the common good.
In Christ,
