Dear CLC Communities,
Peace and blessings to you!
It is with a heavy heart that we write to share a difficult decision regarding our upcoming National Convention 2026 (CLCP NATCON 2026) which was originally scheduled to be hosted by our CLC Bicol communities this coming August 28 to 30, 2026.
While we have all looked forward to this gathering with much hope, we are faced with great spikes in oil prices and severe inflationary effects of the fuel crisis now impacting our nation. After consultation with our host communities in Bicol, and earnest discernment, we have come to the decision to postpone our National Convention 2026 to next year January 23, 2027 (beginning in the morning) until January 25, 2027 (ending after lunch), still to be held in Bicol. Our guides training will be moved to January 22, 2027.
This decision is guided by the following concerns: (1) with climate conditions affected by El Niño, there is a strong possibility of typhoons and rains in August 2026, and January 2027 will have more conducive weather for our NatCon; (2) we wish to express communal solidarity with our CLC communities who might be affected by the fuel crisis and we recognize that exorbitant travel costs will hinder our communities in sending delegates, resulting in significantly reduced attendance; and (3) we anticipate logistical deficits due to inflated costs of catering, venue operations and local transport that may exceed our current austerity protocols.
With the awareness that we have all looked forward to this gathering as a time of shared grace, we recognize that the safety, well-being and peace of mind of all our CLC members remain our utmost priority. Although we cannot gather together physically in Bicol this year 2026, we encourage one another to remain steadfast in the Lord. We continue to accompany one another with the shared graces from our NA 2025, understanding that in the midst of economic trials, Christ is our peace and hope. May we request our communities to continue their reflection on the NA 2025 Grace by responding to this form here: bit.ly/reflections-on-the-NA2025Grace.
Your National Leadership Community will keep you informed and updated on our National Convention 2027, as we continue to monitor the situation. Let us continue to pray for one another, especially for those most affected by the current economic crisis.
With Christ’s abiding peace,
Lynda, Tinnah, Jessa, Fanny and Marge
National Leadership Community
