To the World Community
Greetings Dear Friends,
In anticipation of the climate conference COP28 to be held this December in Dubai, UAE, Pope Francis has written the exhortation Laudato Deum urging our global community to act on the climate crisis. “We are on a pilgrimage of reconciliation with the world that is our home.” LD 69
In response, CLC has joined with Ecojesuit, the Global Ignatian Advocacy Network on Ecology, the Social Justice Ecology Secretariat, and over 100 members of the Ignatian Family in a collective statement for the human family and care for our Common Home.
We encourage you to consider the following actions:
- Read the statement. It is available in three languages at these links: English, French, and Spanish. There are five goals for COP28, along with five actions that our communities can work toward. We encourage you not only to read but take action.
- National and local communities can also add their signatures! This is an opportunity to raise awareness and reflect on this global faith-based initiative among our members during COP28 and afterwards. If your community does discern to sign on, you can let us know by answering this form. You can also use the form to share your stories or good practices.
- Pray: Join CLC Regional Prayer services. Online prayer services are posted on our Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/cvxclcecology/. Updates from COP28 will be posted here, too.
- Learn more on COP28 from EcoJesuit and other Ignatian ministries here: https://climatejustice.ecojesuit.com/
We unite in prayer and solidarity on behalf of our common home and our most vulnerable brothers and sisters.
